Student and International Delegates Drinks Reception
There will be a drinks reception for International delegates and those attending the Student Conference where they will have the opportunity to meet the BERA Council from 18.30 to 19.00. This event is for International delegates, Student Conference
attendees and BERA Council only.
Wednesday 3rd September
Main Conference Welcome Reception
An informal evening with pre dinner drinks reception is open to all delegates at no extra cost. Please indicate that you wish to attend on your registration form. This will take place from 19.00 to 19.30.
Wednesday 3rd September
Buffet dinner Dinner will take place on Wednesday evening from 20.00 – 22.30 in the Middle Dining Room. Tickets for this can be reserved
when registering for £20. A cash bar will be provided.
Thursday 4th September
Option 1: Conference Dinner 19.30 hrs onwards
Delegates will have the opportunity to dine at a truly unique venue, Dynamic Earth. A drinks reception will be held in the galleries where delegates will be able to view the spectacular exhibition. This will be followed by dinner (including a Scottish piper toasting the haggis) in the stunning restaurant next to the Scottish Parliament and overlooking Holyrood Park. A traditional ceilidh will
follow dinner. A cash bar will be provided. Places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Tickets must be pre-booked and cannot be purchased at the conference.
Cost £60.00 per person.
Option 2: Eating on campus
The Lectern Bar. This serves light, cold snacks in the evening from 17.00 until 19.00 hrs.
The Middle Dining Room. This serves self service hot food from 18.00 – 20.00 hrs.
Delegates do not need to indicate their interest in Option 2 in advance.
Friday 5th September
The Edinburgh Experience
Option 1: Dinner on Campus - 19.30 – 21.30
A three course dinner will take place in the Middle Dining Room. A cash bar will be available throughout. Cost £27 per person.
Tours: Coaches will leave at 19.30 from outside the Conference Centre.
Option 2: The Scotch Whisky Experience - 20:15.
(dram of whisky on arrival at the Whisky Heritage Centre followed by fully guided 1 hour tour).
Cost £10.
Option 3: City of the Dead Ghost Tour -
20:00
(guided 1 hour walking tour of the Old Town in Edinburgh including a visit to the underground
vaults of the medieval city) £7.50.
Delegates will then be free to enjoy Edinburgh by night. The tours end near the Royal Mile where there are numerous options for eating and / or drinking. Transport back to Heriot-Watt is not included in these tours.
