Manchester University is located about 10 miles from Manchester Airport which is served by both national and international flights. A frequent fast 24 hour train line links the airport to both Piccadilly and Oxford Road Train stations which are located in the centre of Manchester.

If traveling by train, the University is only 5 minutes walk from both Piccadilly and Victoria Train Station, Victoria Station is located a little further away.

 

Delegate Parking

Please park on the multi storey car park on Booth Street West and note the following charges apply:

0-3 hours - £3.00
3-6 hours - £5.00
6-10 hours - £8.00
10-24 hours - £10.00
4pm-midnight - £2.00

Please note this car park closes at 11pm.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is available throughout University Place, this is free of charge and if you require access you can collect a username and password from the BERA Registration Desk.

Transport to Manchester

Manchester is well connected by all modes of transport so whether you are travelling to the city by road, rail or air, it is easy to reach. It is a compact city so once you arrive, it is also easy to get around by foot.

The University is conveniently located to get to all the city centre attractions, shops and restaurants, providing you with a great base to explore all that Manchester has to offer.


By Air

Manchester International Airport has flights from over 200 destinations worldwide and the airport is located just 10 miles from the city centre with a direct train service into Piccadilly station every 20 minutes throughout the week.

The approximate cost is £5 for a single journey and the journey time is just 15 minutes. Alternatively you can get a taxi to the city centre which costs less than £20.

By Road

The M60 outer ring road connects to all the motorways running into Manchester from north, south, east and west.

The University of Manchester's campuses are located from just 1 mile to the nearest motorway junction and there are University signposts directing you to the campuses. All of our campuses offer car parking on site although some are chargeable.


By Rail

Travelling by train couldn't be easier, with most major cities across the UK offering direct train services into Manchester Piccadilly station, which is just 5 minutes walk from our Sackville Street campus and a short taxi ride to our other venues.

The journey time from London to Manchester now takes just over two hours. For details of prices and timetables of all national train connections into Manchester, visit Network Rail's website.

First TransPennine Express operates direct train services into Manchester from across the north of England, Edinburgh and Glasgow and direct services into the city centre from Manchester Airport.


By Bus

Manchester is well served by a number of bus companies that operate around the city and our campuses are located along the busiest bus route in Europe with buses running till the early hours.

The 147 shuttle busruns between Piccadilly station and the Sackville Street and Oxford Road campuses every 10 minutes on weekdays. The cost is 50p per journey or £1 for a day pass.

The number 43 bus also operates all day to the airport and also throughout the night at regular intervals and travels along the Oxford Road/Wilmslow Road corridor where most of our venues are situated.
