On arrival please got to the Reception Desk at George Kenyon Hall to pick up your keys. Check in on Monday
to Friday is from 14.00 – 21.00. For arrivals after 9pm or over the weekend/Bank Holiday Monday, there will be
a notice on the door to the George Kenyon Hall providing instructions on how to contact the duty tutor who will
come and let you in to the Hall and give you your key. On your day of departure you must be checked out of
your room by 9.30am.The rooms are arranged in self contained flats of 5 or 6 single rooms with modern en-suite facilities. Towels, toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities are provided in each room. Each flat has a shared kitchen/lounge.The kitchen will not have any utensils or crockery but has a fridge that can be used.
Internet - Delegates can get free WIRED internet access from the bedrooms at the George Kenyon Halls.
You will need to register you laptop details with the Hall Reception. Please bring your own RJ45 cable with you to connect to the internet.
Breakfast - Breakfast will be served in the Eats Restaurant at University Place from 07.30 – 09.30 each morning.
Delegates must wear their name badge in order to get breakfast.
Weston Hall

On arrival please go to the Reception Desk at the Days Hotel (Weston Hall is attached to the hotel). Check in
is from 14.00. There is a 24 hour reception for any guests arriving late in the evening. On your day of departure
you must be checked out of your room by 11.00. The rooms are all single bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms
(shower, basin and toilet), towels, bedding, tea/coffee making facilities and a desk area. The roomsare arranged in flat of 8 rooms where there is one communal lounge and kitchen area including a sitting area, fridge, microwave, cooker, iron & ironing board. Guests staying in the Weston hall have full use of the Days Hotel facilities.
Internet - There is no internet access in the Weston Hall, however guests can use the WIFI internet in the public areas of the Days Hotel which costs £6.99 for 24 hours.
Breakfast - Breakfast will be served in the Weston Restaurant and Weston Room One within the Days Hotel. Breakfast times are as follows: Monday to Friday: 7am – 10am. Saturday: 7.30am – 10.30am. Sunday: 8.30am - 11.30am.

Guests staying in the Days hotel bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, high speed internet access, telephones, flat screen remote sky televisions, hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities, iron & ironing board, deskarea and lamp. The Days Hotel has a 24 hour reception, secure luggage room, WIFI access in the public areas, laundry
service available, computer lounge with 2 computer terminals, conservatory bar serving snacks and drinks throughout the day and the Weston Restaurant open at lunch time and during the evening from 6.30pm – 9.30pm serving the A La Carte menu. Room service is also available.
Internet - There is WIFI access in the hotel public areas and high speed internet access in the Days Hotel bedrooms. In the hotel bedrooms guests will need to connect through a cable which they can receive from reception. Internet
is charged at £6.99 for 24 hours.
Breakfast - Breakfast will be served in the Weston Restaurant and Weston Room One within the Days Hotel.

A reception will be held for delelgates who are
attending the BERA conference for the first time
or are new members of BERA. The purpose of the
reception is to provide an opportunity for delegates
to make connections with other new delegates and members.
Wednesday 2nd September
Student and International Delegates Drinks Reception 18.30 – 19.00

There will be a drinks reception for International delegates and those attending the Student Conference where they will have the opportunity to meet the BERA Council. This event is for International delegates, Student Conference attendees and BERA Council only.

An informal evening with pre dinner drinks reception is open to all delegates at no extra cost.
Wednesday 2nd September
Dinner in the Eats Restaurant at University Place 20.00 - 22.00
This will be a served meal and a cash bar will be provided. Tickets for the dinner should be pre-booked.
Thursday 3rd September
Conference Dinner Manchester Town Hall 19.30 – 23.00
The BERA 2009 Annual Conference Dinner will be held in the Manchester Town Hall. Manchester Town Hall is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A Grade 1 listed building in a magnificent setting, steeped in a wealth of history is definitely one of the hidden jewels in Manchester’s crown.This unique venue is an elegant and impressive building which was built in celebration of the trade and commerce for which the city of Manchester is so rightly famous. The night will include a 3 course dinner and entertainment will be provided by The UK Bee Gees.
Coaches will pick up delegates at the following times:
18.45 University Place, University of Manchester Oxford Road
18.45 Days Hotel, Sackville Street.
Please note that you should make your own way back to your accommodation at the end of the evening, coaches will not be provided. Manchester Town Hall is approximately a 15 minute walk fromthe Days Hotel, Weston Hall and George Kenyon Hall.
Friday 4th September
Buffet Dinner and Jazz Band at the Barnes Wallis Restaurant 20.00 – 22.00
Delegates will have the opportunity to enjoy a buffet dinner and entertainment at the Barnes Wallis Restaurant. Please note that the Barnes Wallis Restaurant is part of the University of Manchester and is located just off Altrincham Street, please see building 9 on the map provided on the inside back cover of the programme. A Jazz Band from the Royal National College of Music will provide entertainment. A cash bar will be provided.
